January is Maryland Reading Month!  Thunder Hill is excited to celebrate MD Reading Month with the following activities:

During the month of January Students will take “The Reader’s Oath” together.  Jan. 8th – morning announcements.  Copies of this have been given to Para Educators to distribute on Monday morning.  Please make sure each student has one on their desk!  Thanks

I promise to read
Each day and each night.
I know it's the key
To growing up right.
I'll read to myself,
I'll read to a crowd.
It makes no difference
If silent or loud.
I'll read at my desk,
At home and at school,
On my bean bag or bed,
By the fire or pool.
Each book that I read
Puts smarts in my head,
'Cause brains grow more thoughts
The more they are fed.
So I take this oath
To make reading my way
Of feeding my brain
What it needs every day.

Week of Jan. 8th – Guest readers on the announcements – share a book review, poem, or riddle!  I have readers for Tues. - Thursday.  I am still in need of a reader or group on Friday!

Week of Jan. 22nd – Buddy Class Reading / Buddy Reading
Set up buddy time to read with your buddy class
 
Week of 29 – 31st  - Read Me Days – students are encouraged to wear something readable – a shirt with words on it will do!
